Email from US Consulate about PCC

Hi Vikas,
Can you please send me the email about PCC, you received from US Consulate in India?. I have my IV interview probably in October. My email address is [email protected]. Do you know for how long the PCC obtained from Indian Consulate here in US is valid?. Six months or one year?

PCC validity

Check your email. I read somewhere on this site that it's valid for one year. I obtained it in January and my interview is in July so mine too will be more that six months old by the time I apear for the interview. I mentioned the month of issuance in the email to the consulate and they didn't write any thing about validity in the reply.

CLARIFICATION FOR PCC

I am emplyed by a co in US, but transferred to Mumbai due to the slowdown .All along my GC was being processed in CP. Now the case is cometo Mumbai.

I got one PCC from the regional Passport ofice in Worli and for the local police clearnace letter I got it directly from CID office , behind xaviers college, mahapalika marg. This letter simply states that local police stations are NOT EMPOWERED to give a PCC.

BOTH These docs are needed for the GC visa in Mumbai, as I wentto theinformationcounter andclarifiedit.

Waiting toget my interview date

how long it takes to get PCC from regional passport office ?

How long does it take to get it from regional Passport office ? Do they also have some 30 days procudure like the way we obtain PCC in US ?

Can someone give this info ? also do the local police give it in 1-2 days.

DURATION

It takes about 2 weeks for the regional passport clearance, if your passport is issued from Mumbai (and I also followed up personally at the police station, since the regional passport office forwards the papers internally to CID and they inturn to your local police station). The local police (if greased well !) will hand over your papers to you personally and you will have to take it to the CID office. 1 days job.

If your passport is issued outside India, then it takes a little longer (4 weeks).

The letter from CID is just a 2 hours job

TWO PCCS A MUST

YES, TWO PCC'S IS A MUST. The Mumbai US consulate said they will deny the IV is both are not present.
