Transfer of AOS started in US to homecountry

Has anyone been through or know someone who has been through this: started the adjustm of status in the US and then has the process transfered into his home country (as consular processing)? Is that possible?

I believe you would have to file I-824 to move the petition from USCIS to NVC.
