Medical at Hinduja
-----------------
We (myself and wife) did at Hinduja.
We reached at Hinduja at 6:55 AM June 17. Our appointment was at 7:00 AM. It opens at 7:00 AM, and staff starts to work at 7:00 AM too.
We took 2 forms(for myself and wife) from ground floor 4 counters, we filled forms. And paid Rs. 1700 X 2 cash. We took receipt.
Then we went to 3rd floor. Over there, nurse took our blood sample, checked blood pressure, measured height/weight etc. In between she told us to wait in waiting room also(because sometime rooms are not available for check up). After 30 minutes, nurse/clerk took us to next building through bridge over road. Over there, they took X-rays.
Then, we were told to come back by 3:00 PM. We came back at 3:00 PM. We went to first floor. Dr. Dastur checked eye check up(pretty easy), checked our heart bits, and body check up. It was very smooth procedure. Asked general info about spouse and kid etc. It took only 5 minutes.
Then we were told to wait in lounge. After 30 minutes. Nurse/Clerk came out and announced our names. We went to clerk's office. We received our sealed packets and X-rays. (Remember these X-rays are no more needed in US embassy interview OR at POE).
Hinduja medical was done in same day.
Note: The clerical office building(where we reached in morning) is facing to sea. Means there is road passing between 2 Hinduja buildings. We went to East building # 2, which is not next to sea. Sequence: Sea, Building # 1, Road, Building # 2. There is cafeteria in Main building # 1 of Hinduja(next to sea).
Interview:
----------
Our appointment was at 10:00 AM, June 26.
We reached there around 9:15 AM. Security person told us to wait in Raj pavilion.
Sequence right(North) to left(South) on Bhulabhai desai road : US Embassy bldg, Raj pavilion, My Own Studio. US Embassy bldg and Raj pavilion are next to sea. While ‘My own studio’ is opposite to sea.
We were waiting at Raj Pavilion. Raj Pavilion guy came at 9:55 AM, and announced to 10:00 AM interview guys to reach at embassy. It is 2 minutes walk.
We reached at embassy. Out side security guy was not co-operative. He asked for passport and appointment letter (in which Date and time of interview is written) of packet 4. Then we entered in embassy building passage. Over there, they scanned our bags(which was non-transparent). and let us entered in. In the main hall, extreme right side, there is a chairs for Immigrant interview guys. We sit there for 5 minutes. And then, I went to window # 10. Over there, I submitted my appointment letter. Then clerk lady at window # 10 told us to sit and wait.
At 11:00 AM, my name was announced and told us to go at Window 4. We went to Window 4. Over there, there was desi lady. Who asked us documents listed in Packet 4. (My wife's name was not written in her birth certificate. So lady was denying us, and then she suggested us to show 10th mark sheet OR school leaving certificate which has name and birth date). We showed her that, and we were okay. She told us to put our Indian address in DS230 Part-I. So, we did over there only. (Note: I already put my employer’s name in petitioner’s column in my DS230 Part II. I put my name in petitioner’s column in my wife’s DS230 Part II.) Well, I showed her only USA PCC. But at the time of giving her photocopy of PCC, my Indian PCC’s copy was also stapled with US PCC. So, she asked me about Indian Original PCC. Which I showed her. But, I think, if I didn’t do that mistake, then there was no need to show her Indian PCC at all. No IRS-9003 was asked. After collecting all documents, she told us to wait.
At 11:45 AM, my name was announced and told us to go at window 8. Over there one American guy and one desi lady were there. They asked us 3 general questions. Employer's name and how long I have been working with Employer.
Well, my wife was planning to enter later in USA than me. So, I told American interviewer that my wife wants to enter in USA later. So, he said okay.
Actually, I should tell this thing to Window 4, when I was submitting our documents to desi lady.
Then, White American guy told me you are all set and pay fees at cashier’s counter. So, We went to Cashier's counter. It was closed (Recess: 12 to 1:30). We paid our Demand drafts Rs.3185 ($65, Rs. 49 = $1) each. We took receipt. I already paid $260 X 2 ($520) for both of us in USA at time of I-140.
We came back at 3:15 PM. There was a queue. I only stood in queue. Wife was waiting at Raj pavilion. I got our packets and passports at 4:00 PM. We verified our names and other information. It was okay.
Note: Due to heavy rain, we were not able to hold our damn umbrella. Cheap $3 umbrella of USA, was not working good in wind. Take some good umbrella.
POE at Chicago
---------------
At Ahmedabad checked in, damn officers were asking for Tax return clearance of India. By the way, I did not earned anything from India for last 3.5 years. I was in USA. After 5 minutes, He diverted me to his boss. His boss allowed me to go ahead. Actually, damn officer was expecting some ***.
I came to USA back on July 12th.
There is no specific counter for New immigrant. But I stood in counter queue for "US citizens and US card Holders". At my turn, officer took my papers and put aside and told me to wait. After 3 minutes, he gave my papers to another staff lady. She was collecting docs of people like me. then, we followed her, She took us to
specific cabin. Over there, one by one our names were announced.
My name was announced. She asked me, Do you know English ? I said yes. She told me within 6 to 8 weeks, you will get real green card. And then put stamp I-551 in my passport(temporary GC valid for 1 year from date of entry). Then, she took my right hand index finger's print on some paper twice, and took my signature twice. No other documents were asked.
And, I am done.
