  • Non Availability Certificates

    Hi,

Can someone please give a brief draft of the letter of
    non availability of birth certificate.

Also, who should issue this letter ? The consular web page says any government competent agency can supply this letter. So does it have to be from a government agency in the city of birth or can it be from the city of current residence in india ?

My problem is that I was born in a different city from where we live currently and it would be painful to go to that city of birth and get a certificate of non-availability.

    thanks in advance.

NAC is available from the same town where you were born and this certificate is issued by "Municipal Council Office" of the same town on a form No. 10. This certificate is issued under section 17 of the registrar of Births and Deaths Act 1969. There is a very nominal official fee (about Rs.15/) to get this certificate. To the best of my knowledge, there is no standard language to draft this letter. Different states have, perhaps, different format of NAC, but it does not matter. Generally, this certificate is issued in the local language, therefore, it must be translated in English before submission. If it is difficult for you or someone on your behalf to go to your town of Birth to obtain NAC, you can fill-out an application form, which is also specific, and mail it by post, however, don't forget to speak to someone on phone in that particular municipal office to explain your situation and ask them from where you can get application form to apply for NAC, that's what I did and it worked.
    Good luck.
