Does anybody know how much time it takes to get a marriage registered in India under the Hindu Marriage Act?

I am planning to combine my trip to India for my Consular Processing and marriage.

If I inform the consulate immediately after my wedding and then take him with me for the interview, will they accept his application too?
I had indicated in my Packet 3 that he was my Fiance.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Regards time taken for the marriage certificate, I think they either hand it over to you on-the-spot or within a week. (You need to have two witness present -can be close relatives; I took my Father and BIL for signing).
I heard that for a nominal fee they issue a certificate at the marriage hall - not too sure, here. You need to call the registrar's office under whose jurisdriction you would be getting married.

I'm in a similar situation. I am currently engaged and plan to
get married in dec. However, I'm in the process of sending
my p3 at this point. How should I go about it ? should I add
my fiance in the p3 at this point and get a marriage certificate
later (in dec at the time of marriage) or should I file as
single and apply for her after the marriage ?
