Residence requirement???

If a person is a U.S. citizen and is sponsoring their spouse from a foreign country, is there a requirement that the sponsor must reside at their current residence for a certain time period? Or only requirement is that the sponsor lives in the U.S. permantly? The couple is in the early process of filing paperwork and are both residing in the U.S.

Neither is a requirement. If the beneficiary is already in the U.S, it's called adjustment of status rather than immigrant visa.

However, the beneficiary must have evidence they intent to make the U.S their permanent residence.
