  • A solution to the local PCC issue in Mumbai

This is what a colleague and myself tried for the local PCC in Mumbai and got through the CP in Mumbai:

No police station in Mumbai is authorized to issue a PCC to an individual. So, it is futile to try for this. Instead, get a official letter from the police comissioner office explaining this rule.

This letter can be obtained from the Office of Joint Commissioner, Special Branch II in Mumbai. The office is near St Xavier's college in the VT area. Next to St Xaviers College, there is an open air auditorium called Rang Bhavan. Between Rang Bhavan and St Xaviers is a narrow lane going towards VT. The office is located in this lane.

This is the office where foreigners have to register themselves.

Meet the Senior Inspectors in this office and explain to them the situation. They are quite familiar with the process and will issue a letter printed on their letterhead explaining the restriction.

This has worked for me and a colleague, both of who were in India for more than 6 months before going for CP. We produced this letter in addition to the PCC from the passport office.

    Good luck!

    Hi!

It is really kind of you to send a solution to us. Did the consulate accept the explanatory letter, without any problems at all?

    Please let us know...

    Thanks!

      PCC from Mumbai

      Hi,

Thanks a lot for posting this really useful information. I have some more questions:

      1. Since you were in India for 6 months before your CP , I assume that you were not working for the company sponsoring your GC at the time of your CP interview.Did this create any problems during the interview ? What kind of questions did they ask you regarding your future employment etc ? Did u have to carry an employment verification letter from your sponsoring employer ?

      2. Regarding Birth Certificate :Will the consulate accept any other document which has my BirthDate on it or do they need the Birth Certificate only ?

      Thanks.

        AartiKrishna,

The explanatory letter was accepted without any problem. The letter says that while issuing the regional passport pcc the verification is done from this office.

        taz123,

        Please refer to my posting
        pub107.ezboard.com/fimmih...1267.topic
        for my experience.

Birth certificate or affidavit is absolutely necessary. No other document will do. The CP process is nothing more than a strict document collection process and they adhere to the requirements very strictly.

        Good luck!
