  • Any Body can tell Consular Processing Steps

    Hello,
My I-140 got approved last week. I am going in for consular to Delhi. Can somebody give me the chronolody of events that I need to perform / happen before I receive the interview date.

Plese try to give as detail as you can since I don't know anything about this process.

    Any help would be great.

My lawyer is kind of tightlipped and I just want to make sure that things move at a pace.

    Thanks for your help.

Any decent immigration web site, including this one, has detailed information about this topic.

Thanks for your updated. Were really helpful. But I think I didn't pose my question clear enough. What I was implying that if you can just enlist the points as to what goes on from your attorney to INS and then Indian consulate like packet3 and 4 .This all terminology is very wired for me to understand.

        Can you enlist the steps

        1.
        2.
        3.
        4.
        5......

        Would really help me.

        Thanks

            Steps.

            1. You will choose CP.
            2. Your lawyer will file something.
            3. You will be assigned Case #. (It takes 40 days)
            3. You will get Packet 3 in 1 to 2 month of time after I-140 submitted.
            4. you will fill Packet 3 (DS 230) and $260 money order for each person. and mail it to NVC(National visa center)
            (NVC is in USA)
            5. After that NVC will review your case, and then forward it to India(It takes 6 to 8 weeks).
            6. Then, Indian US embassy will send Interview letter.
You may visit Bombay US governement website also.
            7. Go to India with all documents(Birth certi. Marriage Certi, Educational and Work certificates).
Then, you are done. I dont know further.

But in short, CP takes almost 5 months.

            Vishal.

                Re: brother?

I don't like your attitude. Why we have this kind of discussion board. It's where we can help each other and make people more informative who are not. You might be smarter than few but you still are way long to go. I can name few sections if you want where you can seek some improvements. Nobody is asking for your kind comments . Why wasting time on reading remarks of people like me , To me that sounds like you don't have any better thing to do.

                Have fun
