  • TLV experience, anyone?

I have an upcoming interview in TLV. Can anyone share their experiences with the consulate and medicals in TLV?

    Thanks!

I did CP in TLV 7 months ago.
There are 2 doctors, one in Herzelia and one in Tel Aviv. The consulate usually tells you in P4 which one to go to.

    Important pointers:
    * If you don't have vaccination records, you can get MMR and DPT in the US, which will cost you less (please tell your doctor/nurse if you are pregnant or nursing, as you should not take MMR) get US records which are accepted.

    * Be ready to stay 7 days or more after your interview. We had to stay 8 days. Consulate will hold your passports for that long.

    * P4 says exactly which documents you need. In particular,
Were NOT required: sailing permit, I134 (or I864)
Were required: TEUDAT SHIHRUR, PINKAS SHEVI (for doctor), Police certificate. Birth Cert, marriage cert (divorce, death cert if applicable). Notarized employment letter. Please see P4 for complete list.

    * Show up no more than 15 minutes before your interview time. Show the guard outside your appointment letter (don't wait in line with NIV people).

    * You can either have your passports sent to you localy or pick them up your self.

    * "Interview" consists of 2 stupid questions and is through a window.

    * They accepted dollars and travel checks, but please ask them to be sure since we paid NIS cash, but window sticker said $ are accepted.

    * Doctor accepts NIS cash.

      Thank Abulafya!

I'm a little concerned about being stuck there another 8 days after the interview. Consulate told me it can take up to 3 days to issue visa. Seems like elsewhere in the world they do it the same day.

You get to know that it gets to be approved on the day of the interview.
All CP candidates for that day I was had to wait 8 days. Luckily, we had our tickets 10 days after ...

It is possible that they do it faster today but I can tell you only about my experience and that of a family relative which was Family Based and had to wait ~2 weeks for passport to come in the mail.

Note that going to the doctor 5-7 days before interview is "safer" because if some test did not come out well, you will not have to reschedule interview if you can take the test again. 3 days is about the minimum.

When you got the approval, did they tell you to come back after 8 days or was it a day-by-day aggravation of calling them and not knowing what is going on?

Do you have any idea why they are so slow? It seams all the other consulates issue the visa the same day except in Tel Aviv. They were also slow in issuing packet 4 relative to other consulates.

The vice consule tells you it is approved (first window session is for collecting document, second window session is for "interview" in english).
Then they give you an appointment (date+time) to get passports and Immigrant Visa.
We had a call from them after 6 days to delay the appointment in one day because Colin Powel came over.

If something is wrong, you will know. After "interview" they tell you you are approved.

                Don't worry too much.
If for all boolean DS230 Part 2 questions you can truthfully answer 'NO' and you have all original certificates (birth, marriage, divorce, death) AND notarized employment letter (see immihelp for instructions), then consulate must approve your case.

                Good luck!

                  Abulafya,

Thanks again for the tips. I'm back in the US now. Everything went fine though I can't say it was an enjoyable experience, needles and all.

The officer at the consulate was very nice and before I had a chance to say anything she asked when we were planning to fly back and wrote it on our file. After we were done with everything, they told us to come back at 3 PM the same day to pick up the visas. I wasn't really worried about being approved, but about being stuck there for another week. Luckily, even in TLV the whole thing can be done in a few days!

I hope this will help fellow TLV CPers... If there are any questions, please post them.

                  Yalla bye!
