  • PCC.......is it really needed for Feb interviews?

Appears that the US Consulate might ask for
PCC from Feb onwards immigration interviews.

Anyone know if he/she contacted New Delhi
US-Consulate or got any confirmed info if the
PCC will be a mandatory doc ?

Please post if you have any info or comments.

From Feb 2002 all IV visa needs PCC.
First you should apply to passport office & get a police cert
    from them.
Second: If the passport issue date & visa interview date
exceeds 6 months , you should get an additional police cert
from the police staion in your locality. For this make a letter
addressed to Dy commissioner Police , your police staion name
& request for a PCC for immigration visa interview.
Attach 3 photos, copy of passport, copy of PCC obtained from passport, copy of ration card.
Submit these in person to Dy commissioner police.
Formal police verification is done& you can collect the additional PCC in 7-10 days time. The process is quick
& very transparent as far as chennai is concerned.
I got it in 4 days.Pcc is mandatory& second PCC from Dy commissioner depends on date of issue of passport.

If you are in the US

If you are in the US, I assume that clearance from the Indian Consulate in the US is OK.

Police clearance certificate, the plot thickens

Now I am thoroughly confused. Please clarify that if I am in US, would Police clearance certificate from the local Indian consulates suffice. Do I have to obtain PCC from India also? I have only resided in India and US. Ditto for my wife.
Do we need any additional PCC from India??

Re: Police clearance certificate, the plot thickens

If you have lived only in US and INDIA, the only
PCC u need is the one issued by IndianConsulates in
            USA.
The PCC issued by CGI will mention that you have
            no adverse records in India.

The multiple PCCs come into pix when someone who
lived in India and other countries.
