  • DJ Tiësto searches for sunrise

    Greetings everyone!
I am new to this board. I seek your advice on my GC petition.

-My I-140 petition was filed on July 26th last year. Can anyone tell me what the processing times are?

-I am considering CP in Mumbai, India. How long are CP processing times?

-I have obtained a regional Police Clearance Certificate from Calcutta. Do I need another one from the Indian Embassy in DC?

    thanks in advance!

    Calcutta PCC

    Hi Rajesh:

Based on my exp. , let me try n answer ur questions:

1.I-140: varies by the service center but on an average 4-6 months.

2 CP: Under old process , 3-4 months.Under new- noone knows for sure as it is just implemented .

3:PCC : As much as i know from other boards , if uve lived in USA ans are currestly here , only Consulate PCC is needed - but your case is other way around and is much better - personaly i do not think u need any.

I am from calcutta too , and would appreciate if you can let me know the process you adopted for Calcutta PCC - I have collected one from US consulate, but just in case.

    Thanks in advance.

Re: DJ Tiësto searches for the sunrise

      Greetings ykv,
Thanks for your response. I basically asked my parents to get a clearance for me.
      I sent them:
      - a letter explaining why I need the PCC (for my GC)
      - my birth certificate

It takes about a month or slightly more to get this. It can be made faster if you have the right contacts.

      Good luck with everything

        Pcc

        Thanks.

        Just one more question :

So did they approach the local PCC where u lived or they approached passport office? Also did they use any specified forms or a general letter did it?

        Thanks again.

          Ykv,
They approached the local police station, not the the passport office. Also, they did not fill out any form to the best of my knowledge. The letter and my birth certificate was all they had.

          Hope this helps.
