    Guys..
I was wondering what are the risks in applying for "Follow to Join
    Petition" for the spouse..
I have a packet 3 & I am thinking whether to wait till I get married
to apply my packet 3 (by that I can add my spouse's name in Pkt-3 &
get interview together) or is it safe to get married before/after
the interview and submit pkt-3 for the spouse at the time of interview??
What are the risks in the second option??? I know by going thru the
first option I will be loosing time..

    Not Legal Advice:

It may vary by consulate but I don't think so.

I submitted Packet III and then got married. When I did that I submitted a new Packet III for me (with my wifes name on the forms) and a Packet III for her.

My interview date was unaffected. Even though my wife missed the cuttoff date for Visa number allocations for September the consulate was helpfull and pulled a few strings to get my wifes Visa Number allocated quickly so she could attrend the interview with me.

It was a small consulate and not very busy. A large, busy one probably wont do this. They will instead probably schedule your wifes interview at a later date.

However you must submit Packet III for your wife and have the consulate create acase file and number for her BEFORE entering US. This is critical.

Once your wife has an interview date and appointment letter you should be able to enter - but NOT berfore then.

You may possibly face some extra questions as to whether the marriage is real or done just so she can get a visa. They will ask for things like wedding photos, invitations etc as well as marriage certificate. Larger consulates have anti fraud units which look for this sort of stuff.

This diddn't happen to me but as I said - small consulate, not very busy and it doesn't have an anti fraud unit associated with it.
