  • Immihelp - Please help!?

I am waiting for my Packet IV to come from London Embassy,(Employment based), I have two questions:

    1. Does the embassy/consulates verifiy past employment?

    2. I am getting married to a US Citizen, do I still need the I-134 (affidavit of support form)?

All help would be most grately appreciated!

    Thanks

    Answers to Mr. Taylor's questions

They could verify past employment record but I haven't heard of any such case. In any event, it will only be to your advantage to carry with you appointment letters or pay stubs from your previous jobs. This is only if your LC petition mentioned the previous jobs. I was fortunate enough to be able to get letters from my previous employers stating that I was in their employ.

Onto your second question, no, you do not need I-134. Basically, in order to ensure that a prospective immigrant wil not become a public charge, the INS requires an "offer of employment" for the primary applicant (in Employment Categories) and for secondary applicants (i.e. non US citizen spouse and kids) INS requires an affidavit of support. The form I-134 is the affidavit of support that you would have had to fill out had your wife been an applicant for US permanent residence along with you.
