my wife lives in india and will be getting her visa interview shortly...is the big packet the consulate gives the applicant proof for the immigration /air port officials while leaving India or is there any other document/passport stamping required?..I hope the airport officials understand that the packet the visa applicants are carrying is visa/or its equivalent and they wont harass them..any thoughts on this welcome..thanks.

By visa, you mean immigrant visa. In that case, that is how all the immigrants enter US (with packet and immigrant visa paper on the top.) And all the officials at the airport in every country understand that. Don't worry.Immihelp Support
