Hi guys and gals,
First of all I want to thank all the participants in this dicussion board who provided me with so much valuable information and support.I completed my consular processing successfully in Montreal yesterday. Most of the stuff was just as has been reported earlier except for the fact that I had the misfortune of being interviewed by a jerk (who called himself a Consular Officer).
Anyway here is how the story begins. My interview was on Nov 7 and I reached there exactly at 8:30. Went through the Security and waited for my number to be called. Around 9:30, I was called to a window for document verification. She checked all my documents and the contents and asked me to pay S$260 per applicant. The details in which she went made me wonder if she was doing the interview. Anyway, was told to wait for my name to be called for interview.
About an hour later, was called to be interview by this jerk. He is a oldish looking guy with a beard. He started off by having us swear the contents of the forms. Then he started off asking all sorts of questions. He was rude to the point of telling my wife to shutup while he was talking to me. He checked my visa expired on 12/15/99 while Canadian Landing Paper had entry date of entry as 2/14/00. Had to show him the H1 extention till 1/25/00 (fortunately I carried all H1s) and rest of the time was for moving.
Thats when he hit on (his) jackpot. He asked me how come my petition was initiated by one company and completed by another. Told him that the previous company was merged by the other company. This is big merger we are talking off. He wanted proof of the merger. Showed him an ammendment of I140 that was filed. He told me that either I could wait till the ammendment was approved or get an document. The statement in the Employment Letter was not sufficient. On asking him specifically which document he wanted, he threw his head in his hands and said the interview was over. He did not issue the visa and gave me a letter asking me to get proof of merger.
I had to go back to the hotel, get some document faxed by the company. Fortunately, Montreal consulate accepts walk-ins on Wednesday (next day). Went back to have the same guys look at the documents. Fortunately he accepted the 'Certificate of Incorporation' as the proof. He gave me a @#%$-n-bull story of how many frauds he sees and is very thorough in his job. Well, Mr Thorough completely missed to detect that my wife's name had been mis-spelled in PC from India. Neither was I in the mood to point it out to him.
I still need to enter in US. Hopefully that will be a smooth one. But who knows.......
Thanks.
