Docs kept by the consulate as part of the record?

Can anyone confirm that the consulate keeps a copy of the employment letter that you take to the interview as part of the permanent record? Or is it that the consular officers just read through it?

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated - especially from you Skyclipper - you immigration guru, you!

They don't keep any physical papers. Everything you submit is given back to you in the envelope they give you.
