    CP Montreal

I will CP in Montreal probably next month (December) I live in Miami and went to a photo shop near the INS local office. I wanted to be sure they were familiar with the process and the were. I suggest you locate your nearest INS office and just drive around, you'll probably find a passport office/photo shop near by.

Please read the Consular Processing section on this website, it tells you all the paperwork you will need. For the medical, they will direct you to the approved doctor where you will have the blood test done as well as drug testing which is not specified on this website.

If you look through old postings, you will find experiences from people who did CP in Montreal - seems to be a fairly easy process.

My e-mail is: [email protected] - write to me if you have any question.

    Good luck.

      Re: CP Montreal

Better get your fingerprint check started with the RCMP. I called the NVC and they don't accept walk-in type check. Also, get your documents translated to English (if they are in French). My marriage certificate + children birth certificates were in French (Born in MTL)and they told me at NVC that they had to be translated & notarized (US notory). Also, you can have your vaccinations in the US before leaving for interview.

What do you mean by "walk-in type check"? I had my RCMP check done throught the agency they referred me to in Montreal and I called the consulate in Montreal to confirm that was the right procedure and they assured me it was. No fingerprint required but you have to go to Montreal in person to get the RCMP clearance.

The walk-in type was a name check not fingerprint check. It seems like the is a conflick with NVC & Montreal consulate as to what is required. I got my prints done at local police stn. in USA, on FBI form & sent them to RCMP in Ottawa for Police Clearence for me & family. The NVC told me that a copy of this returned form RCMP needed to be sent with Packet 3 along with copies of birth & marriage cert.

My Packet III has already been approved by NVC and I only submitted name check. I am currently awaiting Packet IV - hopefully with interview in December.

I assume then that name check was sufficient. I was told that fingerprint process was extremely long - several months.

I think your right about approved packet 3. It goes to show you that there is no clear cut instructions for this process, even after speaking to NVC personal. Good luck with your interview & keep us posted.

                Montreal CP -more clarification plse

Will the approved doctor be located in Mtl or the USA?

Are you saying that once I arrive in Mtl I CANNOT just walk into the RCMP and have my finger-printing done and checked on the spot..I have to do all this beforehand from USA? I need clairification plse.

I am doing all this via a lawyer and so far I-824 at Texas INS, waiting for interview appt. but I want to be prepared. Somone told me they once heard of someone who was missing just one item at interview and were sent away, and could not go thru their interview.

Your question is not clear whether you are doing Consular Processing or not. If so, here are soem answers:

Doctor has to be in Montreal - instructions will come in Packet IV. This website describes in details what you need for interview but in case of Montreal, NVC makes sure all papers from Packet III are complete before they schedule the appointment. It is very important that you fill all forms correctly b/c this will set you back of several weeks. Make sure you review everything carefully. If you follow instructions, you should not have any problem at interview.

You need a copy of the RCMP clearance included in packet III therefore if you choose that route, you have to go to Montreal beforehand to get that paper; they will not do it by mail. Should you decide to do the fingerprinting method, you can do it from USA (read in procedure in this website)but that will take several months.

                    Montreal

My GC is self-petition and Yes, I am doing CP and my lawyer has been handling my case. He has not told me anything about the packets. I have found info on these things via the web. I am assuming once he receives ANY Packet (and I see for the postings Packet 3 is first), that he will contact me to complete the forms. So far I have just been checking the auto line at TSC to see if there is any change in the message... which he gave me the number. He said my interview date should be soon as my I-824 receipt date is mid Aug. Tell me, is there any reason I should be calling NVC automated line at this point?? The TSC message just says they have issued me a receipt and these cases are processed in.....to 180 days. Will the packet(s) come directly to my lawyer from TSC?? NVC?? Also I saw the list of vacinations on this web site. As a Canadian, mumps and measles were shots we got in grade school as kids. I no longer have records of these. One last question...My current H1-B1, all other visa application documents have Carol on them, which is the name I use, my formal name is Caroldolyn which is on my birth certificate, passport, etc, will this be a problem at Mtl CP?? Born in Montreal and all my documents in English.
