  • I-130 no longer accepted by consulates in Australia?

I posted a question to the Sydney (Australia) US consulate regarding K3 visas for my wife and daughter. They replied saying that due to a new child protection act I-130's are no longer accepted at US consulates. Nearest USCIS center is in Manilla. Even though I am a US citizen, I do not have any IRS tax returns I can't pursue a green card from Australia at present. Do you have any advice on a different approach to getting my wife and daughter to come to the US with me by July 2007?

    K3 stuff

I've found out the hard way like you and after I queried the Sydney consulate they updated their web site the next day...Luckily my Wife is in the U.S. at the moment, so we'll be submitting for a K3 from the U.S.

The K3 is designed to be a quickish process, so you might be in Luck getting there before July if you submit it soon...I don't know anyone who's been through the K3 Process but if you check out this link it explains everything in plain english

and this link talks about the K3 implemention http://travel.state.gov/visa/laws/**...***s_1431.html

I think you will have to get yourself a residence in the U.S. and submit the your I-130 and K3 to the USCIS offices responsible for where you'll be residing...

    Good Luck...
