Hi guys,
I am just back from the delhi consulate after the CP interview. Here's what happened :
Submitted all the required papers at 11:00 am. My wife was the primary applicant and she did not have the birth certificate. We had affidavits. Surprisingly, the lady at the counter did not take the affidavits. I double checked with her. She cancelled both our H1's right away and told us to collect our passports at 3:30 pm.
At 4:00 pm, they called our name at counter 6 (not a good sign). Others were being called at counter 8 to collect their things. The guys told us they we need to come back after 2 weeks. He said, they are waiting for clearance from Washington. They paper he gave says 'NCIC result awaited'. He said they need to verify that my wife does not have any criminal background. He told us not to worry and it’s a routine check and we will get the visa, its just a matter of time. I really hope so.
Does anybody has any experience with this type of thing ? Right now, we are just sitting with our H1's cancelled and without the immigrant visa, I tell you it feels scary. I will be calling the consulate every other day starting Monday to see if it has cleared.
