chennai CPers, packet3 sent in October first week

Hi,
I have sent my packet3 to Chennai in October 1stweek. My case is EB2, case is through NVC.
My priority date is Nov 16th'99.

FedEx says it(packet) got received, Do we need to
call them to verify whether they actually received and entered the info on their computers...? If so, how do we it at Chennai, If some one has done this already,
please let me know the Ph.No and share the experience.

My Packet 3 was sent on October'10

My Packet III was sent on October'10 and is yet to reach Chennai.
My sister's marraige is scheduled to be in mid December. Can I call the Chennai Consulate and set up an interview during that time frame? (Is it advisable to call the consulate to set up a date - since I would be in India in December?)
