  • Immihelp, help on packet 3 !!

    Hi,

I am trying to fill packet 3- I, for CP at Chennai. Item 21 on the form where they are asking for entries into and resdence in US is a bit confusing.

    1. From/to - Are they asking for all my h1s or my POEs to US , even my 3 week trips to India?

    2. Location - Location of my employer or my location. About 5 years back I used to work in california but my company used to be located in NJ.

    3. Visa - H1 B with receipt number?

    4. Visa type - is it temp worker

    Thanks very much

From/to is pertaining to all H-1/B-2..whatever visa status you held in the US. Fill in the location where you actually work. Just put down visa type : H-1B and/or B-2 and/or practical training...etc. Don't worry about the number.

      1. All H1s. No need to mention entries because you took some vacation.

      2. Just write wherever you stayed. If you stayed at multiple places while holding H1 from same company, write multiple addresses.

      3 & 4.

      Visa - Temporary worker
      Type - H1B

        Thanks a lot.

Do u see any issues me working at a different location from where the H1 was approved? It was very common 5 years back for pepople to do that till the Texas incident where they questioned it.

        Your comments are invaluable.

        Thanks

That would be quite subjective and I can't give any definite answer one way or another.

            Sharing my thoughts.

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOUR DOCUMENTATION SHOULD BE AS NEAT AND AS COMPLETE AS YOU CAN MAKE IT. That is why you need to put everything in the Document as much as possible.

Yes, everyone has Databases and can run a query to retrieve your Record, but I think, to ensure completeness you should put in your CONTROL NUMBER from your H-1 or from your B-1/B-2 or F-1 visae or whatever, and all dates.

YOU NEED TO PUT IN THE CONTROL NO. FROM THE OLDER TYPE (STAMP TYPE -- ABOUT A DECADE OLD TYPE OF VISA CONTROL, INSTEAD OF THE STICKER TYPE) OF VISA TOO.

AS FOR THE DATES OF ENTRY, YOU WILL HAVE THE STAMP ON YOUR PASSPORT; WHAT YOU WILL MISS IS THE STAMP OF YOUR EXIT AS THE US IMMIGRATION DOES NOT STAMP YOUR PASSPORT UPON YOUR DEPARTURE. THEREFORE, PLEASE GIVE AN APPROXIMATE DATE, TO THE NEAREST MONTH EVEN.

AGAIN, THIS MUST BE GIVEN FOR ***ALL*** YOUR TRIPS INTO THE USA!!

All this is only to prove to the INS that you have not OVERSTAYED in the US ever and have MAINTAINED your Visa Status always!

For me and my wife and kid, we have had about 17 trips in and out of the US EACH, at many different Ports of Entry, and it was very confusing. For Departure dates, I gave Approx. dates or "Unable to Determine".

Similarly, all your Work History needs be documented!
