Help.....Packet 3 confusion !

Hi,

Jan /2000 .My approval of notice for consular processing arrived.

March/ 2000. My lawyer erroneously sent back packet 3 mailed to her by NVC.

May / 2000, The NVC said, they have sent my case to Mumbai consulate and it is being processed there.

Sept / 2000, I called Mumbai consulate and they verified that, they had my file and they mailed me my packet 3 on 29th Sep, 2000.


Does anybody have a clue, why file was sent to Consulate and why I am recieving packet 3 from Mumbai, instead of NVC again ??

Mumbai generally sends packet 4. NVC sends your case to the appropriate consulate for CP. I don't think it is important at this point to find out why Mumbai is sending you packet3. Since you know that Mumbai has your file, all it needs are completed OF forms [230 part I: bare minimum] to schedule you for the interview. You can download OF forms [packet3] from the net without waiting for the packet3 from Mumbai. Fill them out and send them to Mumbai ASAP.

I had read that if a person does not respond to the initial packet 3 for some time, then the consulates send packet 4a....which is packet 3 + a letter saying if you do not respond....then you loose your processing. Anyway, I will file the packet 3 ASAP.
