  • Company name changed, what doc. do I carry for cp

My company changed it's name while my I-140 was in process. Now at the time of mailing my packet 3 to consulate, my attorney say's that my I-140 approval on the company's old name is invalid and that I have to file an amended I-140 with the new name.
It's a simple name change. Would someone help me as what to do ?
Is it sufficient to mention in my employment letter about the name change? or do I have to carry additional documents like public filing documents ?

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    MDREDDY.

No amendment to I-140 is needed. A "name changed" letter should be suffcient. My case was successor in interest and didn't file an amendment.

What if the Federal Tax ID changes ?

        Rockstar:

In my case, a part of the co. got separated and is gobbled by a third co. and resulted in a change in name (as well as the Fed Tax ID). My Lawyer applied for the amended I-140. Now my AC-140 is cleared with non-amended I-140 clearance. But I guess that before my interview, the amended I-140 will also get cleared. What kind of paperwork do you think I'll need ? One name I keep on seeing everywhere is SII... what exactly should I do ?

        Regards,

Re: What if the Federal Tax ID changes ?

          mbhatt0,

SII stands for successor-in-interest. Some days ago, i had posted a subject something like "SII documents", check that. Basically you need a seperate letter [other than employment letter], lining out details of company merger/take-over, stuff like that.

if you don't find it, email me and i'll reply you with the format of the letter. Please try to find it here first.

          good luck,
