  • Birth Certificates

I spoke to the Indian Embassy here in Washington DC. It seems the Embassy issues a Birth Certificate which is exactly similar to what the record is on your Passport. Is that a valid form of Birth Certificate for CP? the Consular Officer here told me that immigration authorities accept that as a valid form of BC.

Does this mean that we do not need any affidavits or any original certificates if we can get this certificate issued from the Indian Embassy? This seems like the end of all Birth Certificate problems. Let me know if I am correct on this matter.

    I will appreciate your help.

    Thanks

BC issued by Indian embassy/consulate is NOT valid for CP/AOS.

      Thanks immihelp
That means even if you have a spelling problem on the BC, like "Thara" on the BC for "Tara" on the passport, it will require your parents to sign an affidavit to that effect??or a consulate can vouch for the spelling problem?

      Thanks

Get the affidavits. Easy to obtain, and pretty much accepted at the interview.

AFAIK: the Indian embassy here does no verification of your birth date/name except to say that this is the name/birthdate etc. *as recorded* in the passport issued to the individual.

IMO: this is not the same as getting a BC from a local office in the town/city of one's birth.
