  • Obtaining Case No. from NVC

    Folks

    8-2-00:-Found from INS-Automated Voice Response # that my I-140 was approved on 7-24-00 .
Subsequently initiated processes with Lawyer's Office to complete documents for Packet 3.
8-18-00:- Received I-797 (Second Original) from INS to my home stating that "the case has been forwarded to NVC".
9-25-00:- Looking for appropriate Rocks to Bang My Head against as I AM STILL WIATING FOR THE "PACKET 3" and can not pass through the steel walls of the NVC Automated Response Phone No. 603 334-0700 and the various prompts to be able to know my "case #". (They announce that my Packet 3 was posted to the nominated Attorney on 8-7-00)

If someone can please tell me the phone no. of NVC - Portsmouth, NH, maybe it will save me a life time of punching the phone keys to get the Case No.!

(Hey, this country is not really very different from Back Home and adjusting here will not be as rough as we thought, right?)

    Cheers and TIA!

    Re: Case # from NVC

Enter a wrong I-140 receipt #, and you will get an option to talk to an operator. Ask that person for the case #.

      Thanks JoeF,

Your directions were very specific and absolutely correct!! If you enter garbage at any other point, you go back to the "You made an Error!" sing-song! It is the 10 digit number that needs to be muffed up to get the Operator!
      Thank you very much!

Additionally, I must remark that the NVC Officer was very helpful and informed me that my Packet 3 had been posted on August 15, 2000 (that is 40 days back) by Priority Mail (?? we know now who or what has Priority now!) and offered to post a second copy to my Home Address instead of the Attorney's Office. I like that!!

Thanks again for your help, JoeF!

That means you made an Error i.e. you did not get to the point where you are asked to enter the EAC #.

Basically what you have to do is get to the point where you are asked to enter the EAC # and enter a number that is incorrect. The system will indicate that "This case has not been found" then it will prompt you to enter 0 to talk to an office. That's how you get around.

            Sky Klipper,

You do not have to wait for the NVC Pkt3 to arrive. You can download it from this web-site and send it to the consulate. Before sending the Pkt3, just confirm with the consulate if they have received your case.

              Thanks zdnh

I wished to inform the courteous handling of my phone call by the NVC Officer. I understand that I do not need to wait for the Packet 3 since the forms are available off the Web. You raise a good point for me:- I have my Case No. with me, (it is New Delhi, India); now, how do I find out if the US Consulate in New Delhi has received my case no.? More importantly, how will I get to know my Interview date at the US Consulate in Delhi since they do not seem to have a fancy web-interface for the public as they have in Mumbai?

I think I should start a new thread!
