  • About Police Certificate and Date of Birth Certica

Q1) I got the appoitment for interview in last week of April/2001. Is that ok asking consulate to postpone my interview date?

    Q2)
I have lived in various places in India.
Do i need to get the Police certicafte(PC) from all the places I lived ? From Where do I get the Police certificate ? But my passport has only my permanent address. Is that ok to get PC only from place where my permanent address was mentioned in my passport

Q3) Do i need to get the Police certificate for my wife too?

q4) My birth was not registered. From Where should i get the Birth certicfate.

Thank you all for your help...
    Cheers,
    Raju

Yes. Do that if you have no other choice.

What did you Packet 3's OF-230 said? If you listed all of these places, and DIFFERENT PCs are available, then maybe you should. I am not Indian, so I would not know how to get one. You need PC if you lived in a place for more than 6 months (OF-169; read section on PC).

    Yes.

    Don't know for India.

Re: About Police Certificate and Date of Birth Cer

      Raj,

You do not need a Police certificate for India and US. I f you have stayed in any other Country besides these then you need to get one from there (but only if you have stayed for more than 6 months I think - check other postings on this site).

You do need BC for both of you - You should be able to register you birth at any time and get a certificate from where you were born. Apparently you can also get it registered from anywhere in India only the local Megistrate sends an enquiry to the place you were born for verification and getting a clearance, which would delay the process.

Actually for countries other than USA and India, it is more than 1 year. BUT on form OF-230, we have to list all countries stayed more than 6 months ! Wondering if the consular officer will ask if someone stayed more than 6 months BUT less than 1 year in a foreign country !!
