NVC Received File from NSC - 12/06/00
NVC Case Created - 01/03/01
CP Confirmation fax sent - 01/04/01 (actually not necessary)
NVC Created Packet 3 - ?
NVC Packet 3 Sent - ?
NVC Sent Case to Consulate - ?
Attorney Received Packet 3 from NVC - ?
I Received Packet 3 from my Attorney - ?

Msg when Case was created by NVC: A packet of forms will be generated and sent to the attorney of record within 4 to 6 weeks.

Msg when Packet-3 was sent by NVC: A packet of forms has been sent to the attorney of record and your case has been sent to Mumbai consulate. Detailed instructions are on the forms. Fill them and send them directly to Mumbai consulate. This concludes all NVC action on your case.

1. after case has been created.. your petition is current and a pkt. of forms will be sent to attorney of record.
2. An information sheet has been sent out... this was for confirmation that we need to go ahead with CP. After we sent the confirmation in..
3. Your petition is current and a pkt. of forms will be sent out
4. A pkt. of forms have been sent out and this concludes NVC's involvemnet in yr case.

I was going thru the old talk board on the other website and someone had posted that they moment NVC msg. had changed to pkt. of forms have been sent, that guy then sent an email to Mumbai to confirm that they have recd. his file since he said it was an electronic transfer. And Mumbai replied to him confirming the same.
So today I am sending out an email to Mumbai and hope to receive a reply by next week. Till them, will start getting pkt. 3 ready, since we dont have time on our side and hope to get a March/early April interivew..

NVC to Consulate - What happens?

Hmm!! I guess the questions that need to be answered are:

1. What all does the NVC send to the Consulate? Does NVC really send email to the Consulate? Is it a "pure" electronic file transfer? OR Is it a "physical" file transfer via diplomatic pouch? OR A combination of the two?

2. What does the consulate do when they receive "email" from NVC?
3. What does the consulate do when they "electronically" receive your file from NVC?
4. What does the consulate do when they "physically" receive your file from NVC?

5. Do they have to again do some form of "data entry/case creation" (similar to NVC) OR Do they directly access our case info that is already entered by NVC (I am assuming that the consulates have direct real time access to NVC's systems)?

6. How do we get questions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 answered?

Any thoughts?

Hi called up Mumbai consulate last night to find out whether my file has reached them from NVC. It still hasn't. The lady was extremely helpful...

Amitabh... have you recd. your pkt. 3 and any idea whether Mumbai has recd. your file?

Mumbai send me an email yest. stating that they still haven't recd. our case from NVC. So was just wondering how long does it take to reach there. Neither has my attorney recd. pkt. 3 from NVC.

My scene is ditto as you. Lawyer hasn't received Pkt 3 yet. Haven't checked with Mumbai consulate yet. Am planning to wait till I get Pkt 3 in hand.

NVC to Attorney

Amitabh, Any idea why it takes so long for packet 3 to reach attorney once it has been mailed by NVC. Your post says that Packet 3 was mailed on 1/4. Presumably you still havent received it. U think they dont actually mail it when they say they did? USPS mail should not take more than 3-4 days.

I am not sure of why the delay occurs; since we do not have insight into what transpires from the time the message changes till the time attorney receives it. My guess is a combination of the following:

-Desk to mail room delay: The delay in the file actually reaching the mail room at NVC.
-Mail room delay: Maybe they mail once a week or so.
-Regular USPS delay.

We can only guess.

NVC trivia

FWIW,

I spoke to operator at NVC. She said that Packet 3 is mailed by regular USPS to the attorney. I can expect it within a week according to her.

P.S: My Packet 3 was mailed to attorney and to Chennai on Jan 9.

FYI, my details:

Category - EB2
Priority Date - Jan 10th 2000
I140 receipt date - Sep 6th 2000
I140 approval - Nov 24th 2000 (CP was automatic)
NVC case date - Jan 4th 2001
Consulate - Bombay
Interview date - March or April (expected)

Will fill in as things happen.
