Does my wife need a Police Clearence Certificate..

I am British Citizen. My wife is Indian Citizen.
We are going the Consular route, and will be going to the US Embassy in London.

I was told that my wife would need a Police Clearance Certificate for India. Is this true?.

Secondly, we were told that the Police Clearance Certificate could only be gained from the Passport Agency, and not from the Police Station, because Police Stations can be bribed. Is this also true?.

for first question yes. 2nd - don't know. try indian consulate first.

PCC from Consulate

It is true that you need to get PCC from consulate but I am not sure why it is so. Our PCCs from Houston Consulate took about 4 weeks. Need to send the passport along with a $12 fee and the application for miscellaneous services (PCC for US visa). They will issue the PCC, making a notation of it in the passport.

How do you get a PCC from Indian consulate if you are no longer a Indian citizen. situation been you were an Indian citizen and lived in India but later chnaged your citizenship. appreciate any response..

Look at the documents on US embassy in London web site. Police certificate from India is considered not obtainable. Hence, applicants are not required to get the certificate from India.
