Notarized Employment Letter

Does the Employment letter needs to be notarized ??

My Company sent me an Employment Verification letter but it was not notarized.

Would this cause a problem in the Consulate ?

People with experience, Please help

What if my company doesn't have a notary public ?

It is very difficult to ask a top line Manager who is signing the employment letter to go and notarize the letter in a bank or any notary public,

Any suggestions please !!

Why not ask your HR department personnel to do it? In fact it is HR's job to issue this letter. I doubt if there are any who went for CP went without the notarized employment letter to give you a feedback on the repurcussions....

I called my Lawyer, and she told me the letter doesn't need to be notarized,
It must be notarized for Family Based category or for Employment who is sponsered by a relative.
However, for regular Employment based category, It doesn't need to be notarized.

I STRONGLY disagree......

For family based IV, there is no question of employment letter and I am do not remember seeing a seperate category for family sponsored employment based immigration. Suggest talk to some more people before taking the risk.

I definitely think it has be Notarized because in the Packet 4 I received they have clearly mentioned it. I think it doesn't matter who signs it from the HR department as long as it is notarized.

Applicants for family-based immigrant visas, including orphans. (Self-petitioning widows, widowers, and battered spouses and their children are exempt from this requirement), and applicants for employment-based immigrant visas whose relative filed the immigrant visa petition or whose relative has a 5 percent or greater ownership interest in the business that filed the petition.

Let's stay in our topic, Is it a must to have the employment letter NOTARIZED ??

mohamedsaid: you dont need I-864 if you are in EB category. You need I-134 which HAS to be notarized.

And your EMPLOYMENT LETTER HAS to be Notarized. There is no two ways about it. Ask your HR to issue you a notarized letter. Your manager does not have to do that.

Hi,

Did you need Notarized letter or interview? I am appearing for the interview next month. So, I had the same query. My Lawyer is also confirming that notarization is not required for Offer letter.
