  • CP from Montreal : a few questions

Will appreciate help on the following:
    (1) How long does the police (RCMP) certificate
from Ottawa take? (I am a Canadian citizen living
    in the US.)
    (2) Can one apply for CP in parallel, while the
application for the RCMP certificate is being
processed? What is the risk that
the police certificate won't arrive before the
    interview?
(3)Can the medical exam be conducted in the US
    before the interview in Montreal?

    1. The PCC from Ottawa took 8 weeks for me.

    2. You can apply for PCC before you are ready for sending in your packet 3. When you send in packet 3, it is presumed that you have all the required documents in possession. However, before you come to that stage you could have applied for the PCC. The caveat however is that the PCC are valid for 6 months, so if there is a delay in process after getting PCC, you may have to repeat the PCC process.

I was a victim of this beauracracy. When the time was ready to send the packet 3, my lawyer would not saying that I need to have this PCC in hand and would not take the risk to send the P3 in anticipation. So the process was delayed by 8 weeks.

    3. Usually the medical exam will be done by the panel physician from the consular district, so I doubt if there are any US physicians (and in your location!) to do the medical exam.

    Hope this helps.
