  • Going for CP, can I sponsor parents' visitor Visa?

    Hi,
I have very different quest now. My parents want to visit us and come to US with us on visitor visa. The plan goes like we will be going to Delhi for CP. On our return they will accompany us to NJ. Any tips on whether we should apply for their visa before or after our CP? Any advise is welcome as I am zero on this one.

    Thnx in advance

    parents...

If I were you, I would wait till I finish my interview. But the catch is you have to get a notarized I-134 for your parents from US, which will be dated before your interview.

In any case, I think the rough rule of thumb is to have $5000 for each person you are sponsoring for a visitor visa. Technically, if you have enough assets to cover it, it should not matter whether they go for the visa before or after your interview.

To be on the safe side, you may want to send them I-134 after you return to US.
You may want to get your lawyer's opinion on this one.

      Re: parents...

I too am in the same situation and would like to bring my parents after I complete the CP. I intend to get the I-134 notarised here in the US and they can use it get their visas independent of my GC.

Technically as ChennaiCpMar27 said it is a question of assets and not of your visa status. So I intend to do my CP and after a couple of days get my parents to apply for their visa. I do not foresee any problems but am open to suggestions incase somebody has had a different experience.
