  • After case becomes current, how long does it take?

Hi. My case became current on Feb. 23rd of 2001.
NVC Recording says "Your case is current. Your information packet will be forwarded to your attorney in 4 to 6weeks"
How long does it usually take for them to send packet3 to my attorney?
My H1 is expiring pretty soon and I don't know if I should go and wait in Japan or file extension of H1.
    Please advise.

    approximate schedule:
case current -> P3 from NVC: 4 weeks
    P3 to consulate -> Interview: 2 months

So, if your employer is willing to give you a 2 month leave of absence, just grab an employment letter from him and go to Japan ... have the attorney forward you the P3. If you have all your documents, CP can be done from your home country without a problem.

My I-140 was received on 6/9,2000
            I-140 was approved on 1/10,2001
My case became current at NVC on 2/26,2001

            Now what's next?

              Pd

Nacchii - You still did not mention your PD and category. The message on NVC ans machine sometime is confusing when they say "Your case is current..." that means either your case is current or close to becoming current. There is a big difference right there. if your case is current then you are all set just wait for your lawyer to receive packet III forms and immedialtely fedex it to your consulate after they receive your case from NVC. if case is not current then consulate will not schedule your interview until your case become current.

                Re: PD

Recording from NVC says, My case is current.
Information will be forwarded to the attorney in 4 to 6 weeks. That means my case is current already or eventhough recording says case is current, still I might have to the operator if case is current or not?

I am going through employment base.

                  Re: PD

I think it seems you do not understand what I am trying to say. I have given up now. You need to talk to your lawyer or NVC operator.
