  • Vaccinations that I took except TB Test

    Hi guys,
Today I had my vaccinations i.e MMR(one injection and one Td(one injection). But I did nt know what is this TB Test? I did not find it anywhere. Even the vaccination requirement listed in the web sites does not say so. Some people has mentioned it as Skin Test. May I know if this is required or Td itself is known as Skin Test?

    Please reply soon.

The TB skin test is not a vaccination it is a TEST, where you inject something in your forearm. If you are going for CP you donot need the TB test as they will do an Xray anyway. an Xray is a muh betr TEST for diagnosing TB. Also being from India and having a BCG at birth will make your TB test positive even if you donot have TB and so an Xray is needed. So my advise is donot worry about the TB test.

        Re: reply

X-Ray will check if you are currently sick with TB (if you are sick, you would probably know about it).
Skin test can show if you have the antibodies for TB. If you do not have them, it means that you were never exposed to the virus and never immunized against it. If you have antibodies in certain levels, it may indicate that you could be sick (but inconclusively) or immune.

Indians I worked with told me that the skin test returned positive, it appears that they have strong natural immunity against TB. The X-Ray showed that their healthy.

Did you insurance cover the shots?

Nope. I paid $86.00 for both the shots from my pocket

            Vaccinations

I went to Dr. Rajkumar in Chennai a few days ago and he took my word for it for all the vaccinations I had as a child. Having had chicken pox earlier did not need to take varicella. Apparently CDC needs to have a dated record of MMR vaccination, so I had just that one and I was through. He mentioned that Td is not available in India.

This physician is very professional. Would recommend him highly in Chennai.

              Hi Meenu,

Can you give me a list of vaccinations to be taken or can you point me to the web sites that give info about the list?

I have taken MMR here in the US.

Is there anything else to be taken?

              Thanks.

Yes you need Td in addition to this MMR that you have taken to complete the vaccination requirements.

Please go to immi help site to get the list of vaccinations to be taken. If you want send me your email id I can sewnd it to you
