How easy to do CP in mexico ?

I have only 6 months left out of 6 years.

Documentation says I need to apply for I824 (CP processing)
what if I mention that in I140, is that sufficent ?

    Please advise.

You need to submit I-824 if you want to change the option mentioned in your I-140. If your I-140 is approved with CP in Ciudad J. option, then NVC will send your file automatically to Mexico. U can read more about the CP experience at

    Good Luck
Check with your lawyer though. This is for informative purpose only !!

      Thank you for your help,

in immihelp documentation abour CJ, CP it says as follows,

      ------COPY START----
Original Notice of action (Form I-797) for the approval of I-140.
Copy of all the documents submitted along with filing of I-140 application. It is not necessary for them to be attorney certified.
Copy of I-824 Receipt Notice (It is irrelevant which consulate has been asked to be notified in I824. It can be Mumbai, Chennai, Guangzhou, London or whatever.)
Please note that in order to be able to consular processing in Ciudad Juarez, your I-485 must be pending with INS. Your medical examination will be done in Mexico at the approved doctors for Ciudad Juarez. If your case is going through NVC for normal CP, you can't go to Mexico. If your I-824 has already been approved for particular consulate, say Chennai India, you can't go to Mexico just to shorten your trip. In that later case, you should go to Chennai

      -----COPY END----

It specifically says, I need to apply for I-485, is it not sufficient I just apply I140 with CJ as option ?

What is the difference between applying in CJ and Chenai ?

What is the time difference advantage ?

If I am applying for CJ is it necessary to apply I-824 ?

Please advise, you help is apprciated.

I was just hoping to use I140 approval with copy suggesting CJ as consulate.

How long before NVC sends file to CJ or Chennai ?

      WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE ?

      Regards,
      KMS

(NOT legal advise): I would have apply for I-485 since this lets you stay in US after the 6 year mark.
CP does not let you have this privilege and if not completed in time ->.

It should not be too late to change it, unless you already got Packet 3.
