Priority Dates w/r to CP

I want to find out the approx. waiting time after I-140 is completed, to hear from the Consulars in Delhi...

I presume the Priority Date does have some effect on when i will receive the approrpriate forms from the Consular..

Where can i find the PD in case of CP?

PDs are the same for all irrespective of whether you are 485 or CP. You can find those dates on this website itself under visa bulletin.

If you have opted for CP, then your case will go through NVC. You will not hear from Delhi consulate, unless NVC processes your case. It will then send you Pkt.3 forms which you need to fill up and send to Delhi. Only after your case is entered into Delhi consulate's system, will you get an interview date.

If your date is current or about to become current then NVC will process your case. You can always call them and check your case status with them. Their no. is 603-334-0700.

So if i have to wait for the Priority Date to become current, how does CP save time?

my PD is July '00. filed as EB3.
If i have to wait for the July '00 to become the current processing date, why and how does CP help compared to AOS?

from the day your date becomes current.. it will take maximum 5-6 months for CP. I dont think thats the case with 485 esp. for EB3 cases. And if the dates do become current, everyone will be srambling to file 485s and the backlogs will grow. You may be able to file 485 but there is a high chance that you may be stuck for the next 1 yr. in 485.

Question

If i receive my Packet 3 from NVC before my PD is current can i send this to the consulate or do i have to wait untill my PD is current? My PD is 16th Sept 1999 and NVC has mailed out my packet 3. Since my PD is not yet current can i send the packet 3 to Madras Consulate?

Ravi.. if you receive pkt.3 from NVC, you should go ahead and send it to the consulate, coz in any case they would've recd. yr file from NVC. When they receive pkt.3 they will enter it into their system and as soon as your dates are current, you will get a call.
