  • AOS + 181 days + job change

As per new law one can change job 181 days after filing for I-485. Some people are still skeptic about it. They say that even hough law has been passed INS has not issued any clearance.
Why INS will not follow this law?
INS is also following 1 year extension of H1 after the expriy of H1 when 140 is approved and case is pending more than 365 days after filing LC.
Then why INS will not follow the law in this situation?

Many people are going for CP. It is true that people can get the GC faster in 4 months after PD becomes current. But wait for another 2 months and you are free by law.
Why this extra effort for two months when law protects you any way?

Many of us , at least me is waiting for GC for as much as 4 years. Then is the extra effort worth for these 2 months?

    Re: AOS v. CP

A common mistake: you are *not* free after 180 days.
AOS still has to be approved, and it is in the discretion of the INS officer to approve or deny the I-485. In fact, about 15% of AOS cases are denied. For CP, this discretionary power does not exist.
