I-824 processing at CSC...Any idea????

Hi all,
Here are my details at CSC:

PD: Sept 21, 2000
140 Receipt date : Nov 6th 2000
140 Notice date : Jan 3rd, 2001

Applied for AOS while filing for 140. Now planning to file I-824 to change to CP from AOS

Does anyone have any idea how long it takes to get the 824 receipt and the approval @ CSC?

Since my attorney has no expereince in 824, do I need to send all the 140 documents (all the docs. which were sent for 140 filing) and the 140 approval notice along with the 824 application?

If my 824 gets approved and my 140 moves from INS to NVC, how does NVC decide which consulate do I belong to?Is it mentioned anywhere in the 824 form or I need to send a letter?

Please help me in this as I am yet to collect lots of docs for the CP

first, a few questions ...

from your I140 case info, are you saying it took CSC 2 months to enter your case info in their computers?

Also, how come you are filing 485 along with I140, is your PD always current or something?

There is no big deal about filing I824, just download the form (from this website), fill it and send it. As far as I know, it doesn't require any additional documents (maybe copy of I140 approval). Is your lawyer a regular immigration lawyer? This should be a no brainer for him. However, I was under the impression that I824 is filed only if I140 is approved.

If your lawyer is not experienced with immigration, please get legal consultation from other lawyers.

ooops ..

It looks like I misunderstood your posting. I suppose you meant you mentioned AoS in your I140 and not 'you submitted I485'.

Also, I suppose you are implying that your I140 is approved on jan3. Sorry about the confusion.

I am sorry for confusing posting.

My 140 got approved on Jan 3rd and while I filed for 140 I opted for AOS. Now I changed my mind for CP. If I file 824 now, how long it would take in CSC to get the receipt of 824(Which is necessary for AC-140) and how long it takes to get the 824 approval?

Also I would like to know if after 824 approval, INS sends the 140 approval notice to NVC?


Any body who has expereince in this???
