  • CP at Bombay and Company acquisition

Can some kind soul enlighten me on this one?

My company was acquired and had a name change after my I140 was approved. Will this cause any problems for CP at Bombay? (My I140 is for AoS and I plan to file I824) DO I need to redo my I140?

Can some please post if you are/were in a similar situation or are aware of the modalities at bombay?

    thanks.

I had a similar case. You just need to carry some proof of the merger and a letter from the new company stating the facts of the merger. You don't need to file a new I-140. Company lawyers are usually not aware of the same and insist on filing an ammended I-140.

Also, you don't need to file I-824. Bombay accepts Attorney Certified I-140 and you can send the papers as per details in the CP section of this web site.

If you have any more questions, do let me know.

thanks for the info. Can you please lemme know around when you filed AC140 and when you did your interview? Also, did they ask any specific questions related to the acquisition?

      thanks again.

tomhanx... if you are doing AC-140 at Mumbai you now have to file for I-824. You dont have to wait for the approval but you have to send the I-824 receipt alongwith your AC-140.

          thanks...

            thanx bd850

btw, do you know if we need to send 824 receipt along with ac140 or if we can carry it later at the time of interview?

Anyone, who applied for AC140 after the state dept. memo, did so without I824 receipt? thanx again.

              CP

One of our very close friends who are doing their AC-140 at Mumbai (expected interview date in Feb) had to wait for their I-824 receipt in order to send their AC-140 pkt. to Mumbai. Since that is now a requirement by Mumbai consulate, I am sure the receipt has to be sent alongwith the AC-140.

              thanks
