Any repercussions for postponing interview date ??

I may be required to request for postponement of the interview date by 2 months as I am stuck in a project.

Does request for postponement a negative effect on the visa approval? Could people share their experiences? Can the request be made before the case reached the consulate, Mumbai in my case?

postponement may not gurantee

Again, it may not gurantee your interview date what you want. You may go for as less as 3-4 days and come back. Sometimes consulate may not be able to arrange interview immediately.

I do not see any other problem of rejection etc.

i agree. it does not guarantee the date but the consulate staff (over the phone) will tell you if there is a reasonable chance in that month. no implications on processing.

i would wait till the case reaches them to ask for a new date. a simple e-mail is fine. they will respond via e-mail.
