I have some questions about obtaining Indian Police Certificates.
First, let me explain our situation:
I am American and my wife is Japanese. We are married and in the process of appying for the Immigrant Visa.
She needs to present Police Certificates from places she lived for over 6mos since the age of 16yrs old.
She used to live in Bangalore, India for 8yrs- but then moved back to Japan in 2006. We are currently moving to the US.
Below are our questions:
1. How can she get Police Certificates from India now that she no longer lives there?
"Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants applying outside India. "
2. Does she need to go to India to apply for the Police Certificates?
"Non-Indian IV applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the District Police Station serving their area of residence."
3. If she does travel to India to apply for the Police Certificates, what documentation will she need to present to the District Police Station?
4. How long will it take to get the Police Certificate after submitting the application?
