Im a U.S. citizen married to my wife now since May 14 2007.
She is a resident of Bulgaria and we are seeking an Immigrant Visa.
My wife had her interview at the consular on May 13 2008. This was the response of her appointment:
Thank you for your e-mail. Your wife Rumyana Antonova was interviewed at the Consular Section on May 13, 2008. Her DS-230 Form (immigrant visa application) showed that she spent almost two years in the United States on a tourist visa. Because tourist visas have 6-month validity and she was not able to present any documentary evidence that she extended her legal non-immigrant visa status in the U.S., she was denied an immigrant visa under Section 212(a)(9)(B)(i)(II) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), which incurs a 10-year bar to re-enter the U.S. The 10-year bar expires on December 28, 2008. No consular officer may issue a visa in violation of INA. We will be able to issue an immigrant visa to your wife as soon as the ineligibility is lifted. I hope this information proves helpful to you and to your wife.
Sincerely,
Emanuil Georgiev

I guess my question is, is there anyway to pay a fine, or get approval to lift the bar at an earlier date, rather then waiting until the end of this year?
Any help in this matter would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mark
