  • Administrative Processing!!! thats what they say

Hi i am from Pakistan. I am married to US citizen for two years and two months now. My wife filed Immigrant petition for me in 2006 and i was interviewed in JAN 2008 for an IV. At my interview they handed over me a letter stating that my case is temporarily refused and they cann't issue me that visa right away because they need to do FUTHER ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING with my case and the minimum time it will take is 6 weeks and there is no maximum time limit, and they will call me themselves. After 2 months me and my wife got worried and started to call them and email they. No one pick up the calls and we only got email stating don't contact us before 10 months, and their Fax # is not working i don't know why. My wife also contacted her area's congress-women but they are just saying that Probably your husband is going through a background check and it will take longer because he is from Pakistan.

Anyways, Now when 9 months i got no call, i am really kinda confused, don't know what to do so i started to google around and found this site and writing here with the hope that i will get a better answer that whats going on with my case ( whether there is something that i should worry about or what should i do in this situation ) Please Please guide me.

you need to wait more. Admin processing takes a long period some time 2 years too.

You will be issued visa after completion of admin processing.

I understand that i could take longer but the thing is there should be some upper limit. when i received the letter of " Administrative processing" it was saying there is no maximum time limit. And i also understamnd that they have to do background/name check kinmda thing ....
I talked to one lawyer from NY and he said that he will check things for me and some time immigrant authorities are so busy that they forget to call the person so you just need to keep in touch with them. well i tried doing that myself but got no reply from the embassy except just FAQs email and i was just waiting for the ten months since my interveiw because in that FAQs email they said contact us after ten months because we don't reply to qeuries earlier than that. anyways suggest me something what should i do , should i pay that lawyer or just wait wait wait.
i am sorry, i am kinda really disperate thats why ....
Plz guide me. I will really appreciate that.

        Dear
Have u been out side pakistan?? esp Arab Countries??
how many passports have u kept? like is current ur one and only passport or u had one expired previously??
What is your ful name on passport?? is it big like 3-4 name combined??

these are the things that add complexity in AP.

my case admin process for 2.5 yrs

my wife applied for me in sept of 2006. initially the person who interviewd us said it wud take one month.
now i know they cant be trusted.
also i def think if u visit middle east countries evn on visit visa like visit ur family wud def affect . atleast thts my case.
the irony is i have lived all my life in india and evry yr the us embassy ask for updated docs pcc from 2 diff dept and they had no prob issuing it within 2 weeks.
u can see where i am leading u. this is all a delay tactic to discourage us citizens from marrying n bringing spouses to their country.
my wife was preg was told tht even for babies it wud take months to get us citizenship. so she went to us alone n delivered.
