filed I-130 and now consular processing

My wife and I got married while I was in the US on a student visa. I was unable to attend school this semester and decided to return to my home country before my status as a student was terminated. While in the US, my wife and I filed I-130 with all the supporting documents.
What should I expect to be my next step? I am planning to apply for an immigrant visa at the US consulate in my country. Am I doing it the right way?
