Do I need a passport to submit my DV application for the upcoming DV2021 in October?

Hello

I have heard that from the upcoming DV2021 Diversity Visa lottery it will be mandatory to submit passport informations

Does anybody know if this is correct or just something that is on the drawing board?

I just want to be prepared as my passport expires in October, so if needed for the DV2021 application I will apply for a new one now.

Hope someone here in the forum can clarify the matter
