IV issued and will be expiring

My mom's I. V. was issued in December. She has not entered the U.S yet and her visa will be expiring in June.

If she can't make it here before the expiration date, can she get an extention on the expiration date??

She must travel before that.

I e-mailed the US Embassy and got a reply today.

They said, if she does not travel to the States before her visa expires, she should go to the Embassy on any working day and they will issue her a new visa.

But, the e-mails are checked by clerk and I don't know how accurate the answer is, but I'm planning on going down to the immigration office and talking to them.
