Is Mumbai consulate scheduling interviews for IR5 (Parent of a U.S. citizen)

GeoMac , "COUPON ENDORSEMENT SERVES AS TEMPORARY I-551……….1 YEAR" means that even if you don't receive the greencard (the rectangle plastic card with its own barcode), you can use the visa stamp in your Indian passport as an equivalent immigration document. I surely hope that most folks receive the greencard within a few weeks and at most a few months. However, given the rabbit-hole that the immigration system is, the 1 year visa stamp is a fallback option.

What you have asked is an important question. I went there three times, once for my daughter and again for my b1/b2 and this time for my gc and every time the question in my mind was why there is no shade for those who are waiting out. They do not allow you to stand on the roadside which is adjucent to consulate. When the intake time arrives, the lady employees come out of the premises and shout to the visa aspirants and their relatives standing on the opposite side of the busy road "all the 7:30 people come, only candidates, no others...." a roadshow appearance. All the waiting relatives helplessly wait for 2-3 hours on opposit side of the road underneath scarcely branched trees. No bathroom in near vicinity. Think of the inconvenience of elderly and sick/weak relatives who came along with their people.
So sapnaanagol ma'am, you will have found the answer of your first question after reading this post. Answer to your second question- there are very few flies in the waiting area because scores of people wait, get bored and kill flies. ha ha ha.

Thanks a bunch for this detailed information. I agree, everyone is clueless what happens next after the Sputum Test. I hope they update the website with directions for steps to take after they spot something during the Medical Tests. Take Care!

Thanks for sharing the detailed info. We are waiting for my mother's sputum test result and we postponed both the parents interview. I called embassy and the guy on the phone said that we will receive another interview from embassy but that doesn't sound right. Do you think we should just go ahead and schedule it ourselves once we have the result.

Did you happen to get any update from Mumbai consulate for this particular situation? Was the rescheduling for your parent who didn't need the sputum test done via e-mail?

No Updates, I am not sure what to do next. I postponed the other parents interview as well. Just sent them an email that we would like to reschedule.

What's the latest DQ date for which IL has been sent? Last I saw was for June 16th 2021. Any further progress?

enjoy the trident hospitality while your husband gets his petition approved. The breakfast continues until 10.30 but you can continue to sit until 10.50. Me and my wife took a partial hurried breakfast at 7.30 am, left in the Trident vehicle for the interview. Came back around 9.40 again in the Trident vehicle, and took a hearty breakfast.

No Updates, I am not sure what to do next. I postponed the other parents interview as well. Just sent them an email that we would like to reschedule.

To the best of my knowledge the rescheduling will have to be done by you. NVC is totally out of the system once the initial IL has been sent. Now it is between you and the Consulate. If anybody of the Forum Members has got the interview rescheduled by the consulate, kindly update.

Thank you dear AlienKanpur. Yes,I had read your post regarding hospitality of Trident.We are not staying there.We will be staying at The royal chambers,National Sports Club of india,Munmbai.

this certainly is a positive news. At least the case is receiving attention. God knows, why they have taken so much time after handing over the approval paper. Who knows that some documents are needed. Keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best. This week is almost over, hopefully some positive information will be available in the next week.
