Hello all, I have a question which is not directly related to Visa processing but more like after getting settled to US. If someone gets pension in India, how will they do their Life Certificate in month of November? I called State Bank Of India Customer service, they said pensioner needs to go to India Embassy and mail the signed copy to Local SBI in India, however when i called local SBI branch in India they said they will not allow the letter if pensioner sends that. If India Embassy post that signed letter, then they will consider it. I am not sure what we should do, anybody has similar experience can you please share? Thanks in advance.

Hi Everyone, just giving an update. my last post was about 2 months ago. My mother was asked to do the sputum tests after the doctor found some signs of TB in her chest during xray. She was asked to come to the hospital right after waking up and without brushing teeth or rinising her mouth. They took 3 samples, one each day. After the sampling was done, we had to wait for 2 months for the report to come. After 2 months past by, we called the hospital to see if the report was available, and they informed us to come meet the doctor to collect the report. Her report was negative. The offical report was sent directly to the consulate and we were given 2 papers that needed to be shown at the consulate and at the airport. After we gotten the results, one week later, the consulate in mumbai emailed with steps to reschedule a finger print and the offical interview. My mother's is on sept. 12th, next month. Just sharing this experience if anyone has to go through additional for the medical.
Best regards

Hi everyone, just a quick question. My mother's PCC was issued on Dec 18, 2020. Does she need to reapply for a new one or is this still vaild? Also, if she does need to reapply, her interview is on the 12th of next month, can she take the current pcc with her to the interview while we wait for the new pcc to be available?
Thanks

we reached Chicago safely in the evening of August 17, after a comfortable but tiring journey. We travelled by Swiss air via Zurich. Because of my knee problem we had taken wheelchair for both of us. We went through the immigration within 5 minutes. They did the biometrics for my wife. She was just asked about who had sponsored us and where would we stay. Then my picture was taken. No finger printing. Our passports were stamped admitted under IR5 and that’s it. No waiting in a separate room.
Best wishes to all members of the forum.

the issue of PCC has been discussed in this forum several times. The original validity of the PCC was one year. Subsequently it was extended to two years. So your mom’s PCC will be valid till Dec. 17, 2022. She can appear for the interview with the current PCC. Most likely it will be accepted. In the worst scenario if they do not accept ( which is very unlikely) they will advise to submit a new one. However, this has not happened in the near past.
Best wishes. Do update the forum after the interview for the benefit of members in waiting.

I am in the same boat. I am now in USA. I am required to submit the life certificate in November. The SBI manager in India has agreed to verify the pre signed form which will be sent by email after a video call. There is also an online way of submitting the form. For this one needs a finger print reader. You can find this out from the office from where you retired.
Best wishes.

Thanks Sir, did you sign the form in front of SBI bank officer in India and have they also signed? How are you going to do video call? Online way is little bit not convincing for me since there is always technical glitch.
Keeping your mobile phone active to receive SMS, you need to pay a certain amount for international activation (₹99 for 28 days) and then pay for talk time. I am doing this. There can be some other ways too to keep mobile phone active. If anyone has better idea please do inform.

Hello Everyone. I have been a silent reader of this forum. So delighted to see the amazing here. Especially members like GeoMac and AlienKapur with their invaluable information.
Now coming to my situation -- we only got DQ last month, I know I have a long way to go. Based on every ones experiences here, what is the likely timeframe for interview. My guess is another 8 months minimum. Also my dad changed his residential address in India recently how do I update this in the system, so that any communication is sent to the correct address. Appreciate the help

I am also sailing in the boat as you and AlienKanpur do. My life certificate has to be submitted in November as well. You have to talk to the Bank Manager in advance and take him in confidence that you will video call to prove your living existance. Even if you succeed in doing that, you need to biometrically (fingerprint or retina mapping) enter and then there will be a an OTP on your registered mobile phone. When that OTP is entered in the system by the bank officer, your living existance will get proved.

we have a form, which will be signed by me and a pdf file will be sent to the Bank or to an officer in authority at my work place. Then I will have a video call. The officer will verify the signature and the form will be submitted. This is the first time that I have handle this situation. Let us see how things will shape up.
My Airtel number regularly receives messages, even in USA. I have a postpaid connection. I do not know the tariff.
We will share our experience in this matter during November. Best wishes
