Is Mumbai consulate scheduling interviews for IR5 (Parent of a U.S. citizen)

Question for those of you who received visa after completing additional medical (sputum) tests - After the consulate interview how long did it take for the online case status on CEAC to change from 'Refused' to 'Issued'?

Since since my mom needed to undergo additional medical (sputum) test, her initial interview appointment for June 1 was cancelled. The next day the CEAC case status changed to 'Refused'. After clearing the sputum tests, she attended the consulate interview on Aug 23 and was told that her visa is approved and they kept her passport. However the online status still shows 'Refused'. Does anyone know how long will it take for the status to change?

Did she get her passport? The Visa approval stamp will be there!

How long does it take for the passport to be delivered after the interview? Is there any payments to be made online for the courier delivery before hand online?

Hi all, my parents interview is on 7th September. We have received IL via e-mail but no traditional original mail via post office. Will they accept email IL for medical and interview?

My mom had her interview on Aug 23 and her visa was approved. I am waiting for the passport to be delivered.
Where can I track the status of passport after the interview? I tried to use the UID number on the VAC appointment confirmation letter as Reference Number on BlueDart website, but that is showing status of someone else's shipment from July.

Does IL goes to petitioner email or it goes to applicant email ?
I try to reach NVC but response time is 2 months. So I am not sure should I reach out to NVC on status. Because I heard couple of 14 oct 2021 DQ got IL.

Dear forum members,
My mom's interview was on Aug 22nd. We stayed at the Trident. Ours was an early appt at 7.30am. They let only my Mom in. She carried all the originals and the latest financials with her. She was given a token number. Then she waited till her token number was displayed. at this stage they asked for few documents. She had an interpreter. They asked for the DS 260 with the seal of biometrics done, Police clearance certificate , 2 passport size photos and original passport. Once these were verified she was asked to wait again. Her token number was displayed again and she went to the window. Here she was asked questions by US consulate officer which was translated by the interpreter. They were very kind and courteous. The questions was mainly about the petitioner and family. Then the officer said the visa is approved and to expect the passport with the visa packet in about a week. the whole process was about 2hours long.
I would like to personally extend my thanks to all the members who have constantly been helpful to clear our doubts. Wish all the members a smooth process.

Congratulations on sailing through stormy waters of adverse extended time due to additional medical testing and finally reaching the shore successfully. In other words, congrats for successful interview after sputum testing. Now do not be anxious about returning of stamped passport. If the visa officer has said it will come, it will come.

my mom’s sputum results are still awaited. I call max Delhi earlier they said to enquire on august 24 and on 24 they said it’s not available yet. They said they will call when the results are available. Getting anxious.

As a rule the interview of husband and wife is done on the same date and as a family. I mean, a combined interview. Case number and Invoice number are bound to be different. Best wishes.

The interview e-mail will be sent to the petitioner and the beneficiaries ( and the attorney in case a law firm is involved). Trying to get a response from NVC, is generally a futile exercise. You will only get a generic response. Just have patience. Your IL will be coming soon. Best wishes

Hi everyone, does the embassy allow a close family member to go inside with the person being interviewed? My mother does not know how to read/speak english and I am afraid that she will not understand the process if she is inside by herself and be able to guide her self to the immigration desk. I did request for interperter but I think they will only be help at the immigration offers desk.

To the best of my knowledge embassy will allow someone to accompany the beneficiary only is one is physically challenged. Reading or writing English is not required at all. One can communicate in one’s own mother tongue. People inside the consulate are very helpful and communicating will not be an issue at all. Your mom must know about all the documents that would be carrying in one folder. And in another folder the documents that will be seen for sure.

NVC will send out only e-mails. NO HARD COPY OF THE MAIL WILL COME. A print of this e-mail is accepted both for the medical, the biometrics as well as the interview.

We requested for the interpreter at time of setting up of appointment for Biometrics. After Biometrics they put a sticker on the back of the passport with the specific language interpreter request.
At the Mumbai consulate they allot an interpreter as your request.
