Note: The death certificate of deceased spouse does not mention the name of the living spouse (applicant) but NVC can make the connection from the passport of the applicant.
A few months ago, a beneficiary, whose wife had expired several years ago, told me that he got a RFE(referral for evidence) to submit two affidavits for the marriage and a late registration of marriage certificate. It will be advisable that you get a marriage certificate as well as two affidavits for the marriage. This is a very easy process. You will need to hire a local advocate in India to get the Late Registration of Marriage done.
Best wishes

I have no inkling of what this Class B is. I can only tell you that to my understanding no parent will be rejected on the grounds of medical test, unless somebody suffers from a highly contagious disease. They may ask for some treatment and ask to come at a later date. But I have not heard anybody getting rejected on the grounds of a suspicious sputum test. Do not fret about this. Best wishes.

Hi everyone, urgent question. my mother’s vac appointment is on the 9th of this month and the interview is on the 12th. She received all of her vaccines while she was at the hospital for her medical. The problem is that the date of birth is wrong on the vaccine record. It’s linked to her adhaar card and she has 2 Adhaar cards. She accidentally used the adhaar card with the wrong birth date on it. Question is, how can we get this fixed? Will this be a factor during the interview?
thank you

Over and above AlienKanpur's advice, I want to say that you can try to add the living spouse's name in Death certificate of the deceased. If the death certificate is issued by an office of birth and death registrar, I think correction can be done by following some steps.
In the same affidavits as advised by AlienKanpur, for marriage, an additional point for death of spouse can be considered. Otherwise a seperate affidavit with details of both the spouses and death date of the deceased etc. can be provided.
In my CEAC account, I had uploaded my marriage certificate and my wife's death certificate as well. At the interview I showed our marriage certificate as well as my wife's death certificate.Despite my offering the marriage certificate, the officer declined and took only the death certificate. Offcouse in the death certificate my name was noted as husband of the deceased.Last edited by GeoMac; 09-05-2022, 04:19 PM.

I have a follow-up question. I found in some forums in internet that when IR5 applicants do not have certificate for life-events (birth/marriage), along with affidavits from relatives (as well as secondary evidences), some also submit self-affidavits. I was curious, does NVC/Consulate really value these self-affidavits? Or, are they kind of redundant documents? We can certainly submit the self-affidavits, just wanted to know what others did.
Thanks for your responses as always.

Sorry to say it is not clear from your posts whether you are a petitioner or a beneficiary in this case? Or are you a good samaritan helping in this case? I am not an expert but trying to help if some one has some confusion and if I have an answer to that querry. If there is clear information about a case then there is extra happiness in helping.

At the immigration counter at the your place of landing, the sputum negative persons are given an address of the medical facility, they have to get sputum testing every 3 months or 6 months, for 2 years. If all the reports come negative, then you will be free after that. These reports are then sent to one"s parent medical facility. If the sputum test comes positive, you will be given anti tB treatment for 6 to 12 months.

I received the IL for my mother on Aug 30th for an interview on October, 11th 2022. In the interview letter, I see "Additional Applicants" with no a# or interview data attached to it. But I see my name and my father's name (who passed away and I contacted NVC a few months ago to nullify his part of the application) I am confused why my name is part of the additional applicants.
Secondly, when I go to ustraveldocs.com to schedule biometrics, I am being asked to schedule a "Consular Interview" with some dates. If I select one of the dates, it makes me schedule an appointment at the mumbai consulate (which is strange). I was expecting that it will send me to a VAC in Chennai (where the beneficiary is) to schedule this appointment. I have attached a few screenshots on what I am seeing. Has anyone hit this issue before?
Additional details:
My mother has a new passport now. The DS-260 was filed with old passport. I assumed that we have to use the same (old passport) while registering on ustraveldocs.com and then update the DS-260 at the interview. Am I right with this assumption?
Thanks,
