I am trying to estimate as well. I am in the US. I need to plan things but there is so much uncertainty.

Till July 25 things were going on, on some kind of a pattern and one was able to do some kind of extrapolation. But now things seem to have gone a little unpredictable. After July 25, there were some ILs sent out on August 30. This set had hardly any pattern. Again assuming that letters are now originating once in a month, one can assume that the next set of ILs will be coming towards the end of this month and would possible cover people with DQ date upto October end. Now, one cannot call this any extrapolation, but only a wild guess. Best wishes to all in waiting.
Thank you for the response. I guess the only thing to do is wait for the IL..

        • Hi Guys... I am still waiting for IL for my father.

I am looking at folks who successfully completed the process.

My father will interview in Mumbai. But I don't live in Mumbai so I am going to book a hotel etc.

For VAC, Medical and Interview - what does the total required duration of stay look like? Is it 2 weeks? 1 month? Would I be required to visit Mumbai multiple times or all of these steps (VAC, Medical and Interview) are done in one visit?

          Thank you so much

          • Dear all members, what all documents you carried when you enter USA with Geeting IR5 visa. Do we need to carry the documents which we carried during Visa interview in Mumbai?

Also, please suggest me, what type of health insurance you think is useful or working for you all. what all documents needed to apply health insurance. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

              Dear zakasbanda,
It is a little premature to be worrying about all this. The Biometrics and the medical can be done at several places in India. You have to see what location suits you best. In case you plan to do everything at Mumbai, then you have to keep a difference of at least one week between the medical and the interview. You can get a slot for the medical first then the biometrics. However a lot will depend on the slots available for the biometrics and the medical. If everything falls in place then at least one week stay in Mumbai will be a must. Best wishes.

                Dear Forparents96,
based on our personal experience and that of any others in this forum, all that you need at the entry is your passport stamped with the immigrant visa. For safety purposes I carried the originals of all the documents we had submitted either with I-130 or DS-260.
We are still working on the Insurance. While leaving India we carried the normal travel insurance for two months. We now have our SSN and now exploring a regular insurance. Best wishes.

                • Hi folks can anyone tell me what originals do my parents need to carry to their interview? And also if anyone hired an immigration attorney for their parents application, and if they can share the contact information?

GeoMac - Thanks for your kind response. So the main problem is that when I login to CEAC it has 2 different people listed there my sister and her husband. When you try to upload it asks for the kind of document you are uploading. I think if I select 864 document, it will overwrite my sister's 864, so I think you are saying put it with my sister selected I put it as additional documents. I think we can do that. Actually in the CEAC website when you login at the HOME page it says that contact consulate/embassy if you want to add financial sponsor, but when I called them today the agent seemed clueless. He said send the docs to [email protected].

For my next steps my sister is uploading all her financial documents with her latest tax returns, as well as her husbands. I will add my documents in additional if there is a provision, I will also send them to [email protected], and send a copy to my father to carry. My mother did not get any issue in her communication since my sister had already filed her taxes by the time she applied for my mother.

I can't see any other way to approach this. Based on the message all documents should be uploaded for the consulate officer to see, also he will get a hardcopy. In all likelihood since the same finances did not have a problem for my mother and my sister's and her husbands combined finances are very good by themselves, I assume it has to only do with tax filing extension my sister had taken for that year.
GeoMac - i tried to upload the documents on CEAC, it really does not give any option apart from uploading documents as "other" under my sister's name, I think this will be annoying as it will be difficult for the consular officer to separate the documents between her and me in the application. I'm thinking that sending my i864 it to `[email protected]` and also giving it along with all supporting documents for my father to carry might be the best step.

Has no one else had to add a joint sponsor when the case is with the embassy/consulate already for the interview? How did they do that? I don't want to make the situation worse basically.

Thank you so much for prompt answer. I am taking travel insurance for a month and hopefully we will get something permanent soon.

Also, i have another situation which is making me nervous, my parents will be here in couple of days, but their immigration fees are still not deducted from my bank account. I just sent the check to USCIS on last week, my UPS tracking said it was delivered on 14th September. If those checks do not clear before they enter what will happen? will they be questioned at port of entry?

I do not think so.Only for medical reasons maybe.Never heard about it in this Forum.Best wishes to your dad.

                                Dear tsar2,
As just mentioned by sapnaanagol, this information is readily available in several posts in this forum. Also this information is sent to you in the mail sent to you when you take the biometrics appointment.
Your post is a little confusing. On one hand you ask for documents for the interview and on the other you want information about the immigration lawyer. Any such information is always blanked by the forum admin. Best wishes.
